Vestas has received an order from GHF/Ventotec GmbH for delivery of 27 units of the V90-2.0 MW turbine and 12 units of the V90-3.0 MW turbine for different projects in the eastern part of Germany. The contract includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the turbines. Vestas has received two orders for 25 units of V80-2.0 MW wind turbines, comprising a total capacity of 100 MW. The orders have been placed by China Long Yuan Electric Power Group Corp., one of China’s major state-owned utility companies in the electric power sector. Siemens Power Generation (PG) has successfully completed installation of 25 wind turbines for the Burbo Offshore Wind Farm in Liverpool Bay. The turbines with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts (MW) each were erected in less than 1.5 months, well ahead of schedule. Following commissioning and connection of the offshore wind farm to the power grid the wind turbines will start commercial operation by the end of the year, supplying environmentally friendly power to more than 80,000 households. The Burbo offshore wind farm has a total capacity of 90 MW and will be operated by SeaScape Energy Ltd., a company owned by the Danish utility DONG Energy A/S. Read the rest of this entry »

“With an order backlog of around EUR 2.1 billion, our sales forecasts are secure beyond 2008,” says Thomas Richterich, CEO of Nordex AG, commenting on plans to extend the Company’s Rostock production facilities. In 2008, Nordex wants to double its sales over the 2006 figure with an increase to more than EUR 1 billion. Roughly 94 percent of the Company’s business is coming from Europe and is thus to be handled by the Rostock facilities. Says Richterich: “As we are currently operating at full capacity utilization, we must extend our production facilities in Rostock massively if we are to continue growing as planned.” Nordex has already been outpacing the competition for the past two years, with no end in sight. Hamburg, 4 June 2007. The date is set for the beginning of June 2007, when the first N90/2500 HS is due to go on grid in North America. In Hewitt, Minnesota, one of the most powerful turbines in the USA will then be producing clean energy. In 2006 the average capacity of the 1,532 machines installed in the US amounted to around 1.6 MW. The capacity of the turbine now installed by Nordex stands at 2.5 MW. The operator, Wing River Wind LCC, will be feeding the machine’s annual yield of 8.828 MWh of electricity into the grid belonging to Minnesota Power. After implementation of this initial Nordex turbine, 21 additional turbines are planned to be installed in Minnesota resulting in a wind development with a total installed capacity of 55 MW which is expected to be operational by 2009. Nordex has made a successful return to the Swedish market with two major contracts. The two wind farms with installed capacity of 35 and 15 megawatts, respectively, have a combined value of EUR 47 million. “We owe this success to our new branch in Sweden,” explains Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex AG.
